Description
A special water-based polymer dispersion called Bone Dry concentration is made to seal pores against moisture. This can assist in lowering the frequency of biological growth that occurs repeatedly, repelling water, and avoiding unwanted stains. By keeping the porous surface much drier, Bone Dry retards the growth of moss, mould, and algae. Additionally, Bone Dry will aid in preventing stains from food and drink spills on outdoor living spaces.
What it does
A premium sealer for porous surfaces, Bone Dry concentrate keeps the surface dry and inhibits the biological growth of moss, mould, lichen, and algae. Once sprayed, Bone Dry quickly seals these porous surfaces and is challenging to remove. Only use Bone Dry after the original Wet & Forget concentration or Rapid Application have been used to treat the surface.
Bone Dry has a number of special uses:
- Slows the growth of moss and mould on treated surfaces.
- Helps prevent staining from food and beverage spills on decks and paved areas.
- Helps prevent oil stains, such as on your driveway or garage.
- Waterproofs the inside of terracotta pots to prevent the potting mix drying out.
- Helps treated areas retain a dry look, even when wet.
- Helps stabilise joint sand between paving stones to prevent paving movement and erosion.
How to apply Bone Dry
- Apply on a cool, dry day when the surface is not hot. Do not apply in the heat of the day.
- Ensure that the entire surface is treated at the same time to prevent any overlapping of wet product on dry product and ensure that a light, even coverage of the surface is achieved.
- Ensure dilution rate and application are followed exactly.
- Over-applying the product may result in a slight sheen on the surface. Do not over apply.
- Exceptionally porous surfaces may need a second coat. Test a small area to ascertain if the surface still absorbs water after allowing Bone Dry to dry for 1 hour. For the best results, the second coat should be applied between 2-4 hours.
- Apply to large areas with a garden sprayer or use a brush for clay pots or small items.
It is critical to note:
- All surfaces must be cleaned prior to the application of Bone Dry to the area. When removing biological growth before application, we highly recommend using the original Wet & Forget concentrate or Rapid Application.
- The dilution rate and application instructions on the back of the bottle must be followed exactly as specified, as once it is applied, it cannot be removed easily.
- Bone Dry must be applied on a cool, dry day with even, light coverage. The entire surface must be treated at the same time to stop any over-lapping of wet product on dry product, which would become visible with double thickness in this area.
- Bone Dry cannot be used on brand new timber decking. The timber must be allowed to weather for 12 months before applying Bone Dry.
Questions?
Can i paint the surface after applying dry bone ?
-
You cannot paint the surface after using Bone Dry because the water repellent in the product won’t allow the paint to adhere.
What is the dilution rate and how do I apply it?
Application:
- Apply on a cool, dry day and ensure that the surface is all done at the same time to stop any overlapping of wet product on dry product
(which would become visible with the double thickness in these areas). - Ensure a light, even coverage of the surface is achieved.
- Ensure dilution rate and application are followed exactly.
- ‘Over application’ may leave a slight sheen on surface. Do not over apply.
- Exceptionally porous surfaces may need a second coat. Test a small area to ascertain if the surface still absorbs water after allowing Bone Dry to dry for 1 hour. For best results the second coat should be applied between 2-4 hours.
- Do not apply Bone Dry in the heat of the day. It is preferable to apply this product in overcast conditions later in the day when the sun is low and the surface is cool.
- Apply to large areas with a garden sprayer or use a brush for clay pots or small items.
Dilution:
- Dilute Bone Dry 1:2 (1 part Bone Dry to 2 parts water) for the 5L container. Ensure that the surface is clean. This will treat up to 100 sq metres
Can Drybone be used to retreat a surface that was done some time ago ?
It is best to do a water test to see if it is still porous. If it is – you can. If it’s not porous, you can’t.
How do i clean up overspray on windows?
-
Use methylated spirits soaked in cotton wool.
Is Dry Bone Toxic to plants and animals?
-
Bone dry is non toxic and therefore more environmentally friendly. It won’t harm plants or animals and it cleans up in water. Odourless – it contains no solvents or volatile components.
Is Drybone Ok for Timber ?
You must firstly ensure that your deck has totally been cleaned up (using Wet & Forget) before you apply Bone Dry. Bone Dry is good for timber because the water just beads off the surface. On timber retaining walls, it stops them going black from biological growth. Timber decks also benefit as it slows biological growth and helps prevent staining from spills such as BBQ fat etc. External cedar weatherboards can be sealed with Bone Dry and it certainly won’t peel like a traditional “film forming” coating e.g. varnish. Only apply one coat of Bone Dry for this application. For new decking, just make sure it “weathers” before application as the natural resins in the timber when newly laid will prevent the Bone Dry soaking in. Minimum wait is 3-4 months.
How long does Dry Bone Last
Between 3-5 years. You can always check by pouring some water over the surface. If it gets absorbed in, then you need to reapply. If it repels the water – you are OK.
